Ascension Part 2: Soiryk's Pain

This one is not at all happy, some may find it disturbing. Contains death and enslavement.


The land cried for a hero, none answered the call,
On the bloody field of Aldan's stand Soiryk fell,
In the grass he lay as the clouds formed a dark pall,
Rain mixed with his blood and that he lived one couldn’t tell.
 
He moved, then stood, then walked on his journey through hell,
His only thought of his wife and his children at home,
He journeyed to save them from bright Aldan's death knell,
Returned to his small town with its tower and its dome.
 
But there the soldiers walked and blood soaked the loam,
Familiar buildings flickered as they were taken by the fire,
His wife and daughter shackled, kneeling in the brome,
His sons were dead or dying his hope all proved a liar.
 
Falling to his knees he cried in bitter pain,
