With gazes transfixed
we look through the barrier
as our hearts beat together
and I wonder to myself --
Are you pleased by what you see?

Time has ravaged me
beyond any means to heal --
Old before my time
without the wisdom of age
to temper my foolishness.

I am quite perplexed
by the smile upon your face
with alluring grace.
You are far more kind to me
than I could ever deserve.

With gazes transfixed
we look through the barrier
as you see my reflection
and you wonder to yourself --
Am I pleased by what I see?

Youth abounds in you
yet you show uncanny wit
and alluring grace.
I know what mistakes you made
and you have overcome them.

You tell me always
that you apologize.
Please do no such thing --
Instead do what you do best.
It is always worth the wait.

I don't know what to make of this. Other than that it is an amazing work of art.
I'm drawing so many conclusions here as to who it may be about (no names, just the relationship you would have with them).
Perhaps it's none, or all, or some. *shrugs*

It is dedicated to someone. But it became surprisingly introspective.

It actually reminded me of a poem, from one of our national poets :

I always have a hard time critiquing what you write JC. It punches me in the feelings each time (that sounds more uncomfortable than it is).

The second stanza really sticks with me. Just, the whole image you painted there is really quite poignant; it makes me wonder how many people really feel that way.
