Settlers is considered "a classic". One of the most famous gateway games.
With the term "gateway" nerdy boardgamers refer to those games that are simple in rules and kinda fast to play, so you can kinda let anyone play, but indeed with some sort of twist into it.

Siedler von Catan is probably Settlers of Catan. As for card games, if it is played on a board, I suppose it still counts.
