Coquí (a poem in english)
#1
Hello all,

I haven't posted in a while, mostly due to unexpected RL situations... but my Muse is still actively inspiring me. Blush A pleasant daydream is the source of the following piece; I hope you'll enjoy it.

Coquí

Strolling in the verdant forest the other day in search of a cool
Spot to relax, through waves of sweltering heat and humidity
I followed the meandering path down toward the azure pool
Concealed in the bower therein, where a cheerful croak greated me…

There a small coquí awaited, its large, liquid black eyes peering
    At me intently, its pale brown skin glistening under the sun;
I must have been dreaming, for it said to me: “Your love is waiting
Yonder, señor, on the other side of the charco.” Then it spun

And dove in the cerulean waters, its batracian shape soon
Disappearing from view; looking up, I spied on the other shore
A vision most endearing… you were there, bright as the sun at noon,
The wet curves of your naked body impossible to ignore…

I undressed and entered the cool, refreshing water, swimming fast
Toward you, silently thanking that little frog, a spirit guide
Ostensibly sent to lead my oneiric self to yours, at last
Reunited in a shared dreamscape where our true feelings abide.

Ladies, Maybe you like the mischievous Thief? Sure he can steal your heart, but he'll be gone in the morning.. along with everything that isn't nailed down or on fire.

I agree with you completely misslanni.  A beautiful poem in a classic style.  And, the part you highlight is at it's heart I think;  transformation, transcendence.
