Tales From the Shadows
#1
Hello everyone, since we have an increase in sexual activity on the forums, I have decided to cool the whole thing down and share some stories from my Shadowrun campaigns. I'll post the first one here, then you can tell me if you would like to read more.

A Runner's Dream:

This run happened sometime mid to late in the campaign. We were contacted by the Johnson during our break week after a rather sucessful run, so we were rolling in nuyen and felt rather good about ourselves. Anyways, Johnson comes into contact with us with a proposition to work for him and his boss, no funny business yet. He offers us a reward of at least 400K nueyen...each, no runner can refuse an offer like that. This all changed when we found out that the guy we're working for is Lofwyr, the fraggin' president of Saeder Krupp. Following the ancient runner's saying to never deal with a dragon, we nearly hung up on the Johnson, before leaving for Redmond. The only thing that saved us was the smell of a previous victory and the delicious reward. Battling our anxiety, we pressed on.

Apparently, a young dragon has taken up residence in this area and amassed a surprising amount of wealth in a rather short period of time. Saeder Krupp took notice and decided that they don't like it.

Our target was a private, double A corp vault. We were tasked with infiltrating the vaults and finding out where all the monies are coming from. Secondary objectives were to plant a bug into their system, make sure their head honcho had a little accident and finally, fry their servers. Our personal goals were to steal as much yen as we could and try to find whatever other shiny goodies the company hid in their super hi-tech vaults.

For this run we've had our usual black coat team, consisting of:

Karl - The Uberdecker
Chauvette - the Samfiltrator
Nubz - the Rat Shaman
Jim - the Facefiltrator
Hannah - the Gearhead
The Driver - the Rigger

After a week of searching, we found out that the security officer lived alone, the matrix had no spider protecting it (he was away for unknown reasons) and the security was lazier between 1200 and 2000.

Officer Jeyong has ordered a soyburger and a spicy pizza from Jackie's. The food there was cheap drek, but he found that the nostalgia was worth indulging in. Surprisingly enough, the order arrived within 10 minutes. Opening the door, he pulls out his credstick before his eyes roll on his forehead as the delivery girl crushes his throat.

Next day, Jim, perfectly disguised as Officer Jeyong, strolls into the corp building, giving the two guards at the entrance a curt nod he proceeds to his office, adjusting his uniform and dropping a small drone into one of the bins. The rest of the group, save The Driver, follow suit dressed as regular wage slaves. Passing by the Sec office, they grab the copy of a key to the lower levels when an "accidental" electrical fire starts in the staffroom. Using this distraction, four figures file into the lower levels of the building...

Rolling a few lucky stealth checks, we decide that we couldn't keep this up for long, so Nubz transformed into his ratty self to scout for us. Coming up to the vault door without further problems, we decided not to risk decking the door, instead the Gearhead worked her magic and physically broke into the door. Leaving her behind in control of the drone, we went on to scour the contents while the drone snuck it's way to the server room, rigging up a small EM grenade before trundling off towards the upper levels.

As we suspected, one of the datanodes was located inside the vault, so while the rest of us looted to our heart's content, the Uberdecker set down to work on planting the bug...

Slightly weighted down by the loot, we manage to get back topside without much problems. Unfortunately the fire has spread towards the top levels and shorted out the power, frying the CEO in the process. Apparently the managenment here cared about their employees, since we were escorted out of the building by the Chief of Security himself.

In the end, we secured about 800 grand worth of nuyen as well as a few really rare toys. This was about the most sucessfull run we've ever done, since there was absolutely no need for a fight, which was rather surprising. The main bit of luck was that we forgot to check for magical defences, so the fact that we weren't fried was EXTREMELY lucky (basically, the shaman saved us since he was the only one who brought things to counter whatever magic we could encounter)

Anyways, this concludes the first tale, if you want more stories, let me know. I might even tell you some stories from my Dark Heresy and CoC campaigns
