Very true. If know I'd feel very self-conscious if I didn't get the time to prepare beforehand. That's probably another major factor of why people don't respond well to surprise pokings.
There's a lot of logistics that go into a good session. While the lack of spontaniety may seem like a turn off (by the time you're ready the heat of the moment will have passed), I find that the preparation builds anticipation. You and your partner both know what is about to go down (for me it's the thrill of knowing I'm about to submit), and when you're finally ready, the act becomes all the more intense and intimate.
