I think most of you have misunderstood the meaning of my post, and I feel like this has derailed a bit. I shall try to get it back on track. I did not aim this at any one person, there have been complaints, and I know of some poems that were directed. I'm not mentioning which and for the purpose of this thread, it doesn't matter. I am all for freedom of speech, but I don't approve of it when the purpose of a poem is to get a message through to someone you're in a fight with. Unless it's an appology or something. Nazis weren't allowed to speak at my school, for obvious reasons, should we get angry with schools now, cause they're censoring? I'm not comparing nazism to writing an angry poem to someone else. But I am making an extreme example just to get the point across. Freedom of speech is amazing! Hate is not...
And no, I don't know which and what poem is meant as such or not. I do not claim that. I know some. I assume the person who writes them knows. And that's why I ASKED everyone, to not write poems like that. Is that hard to understand? In what way am I censoring? I ASKED people not to be dicks. Is that too much to ask? I ASKED people not to be mean, is that hard to comply with? I ASKED that drama and such be left between you and the involved people, and maybe moderators if needed, is that a weird request?
I assume all of you are adults and fairly healthy in mind. Which means when you sit there and write your poem, you know wether or not it's an angry poem directed at someone else in the game or on the forum, or not. In my first postl, I posed 4 questions. "Have you asked the person in question if they are ok with this? Did they say yes? Would you like it if someone wrote a poem like that about you? Was this so important it had to be made public?" and went on to say that if you answer no to any one of those questions, you might not wanna post it. Now, obviously if you ask the person and they say yes, that kinda overwrites the last 2 questions, the last two were more of a moral nature. But what it came down to, was, don't be mean to others. If you aren't, why should you get angry at me for making this thread. I made quite the effort to point out that this was not directed at anyone specific, nor at angry poems in general. But the ones that attack someone here who will in turn feel hurt.
I Hate You
The way you loom over my shoulder
How everywhere I go, I see you
Why should I have to carry you around
Tearing at my conscience
Day and night, there you are
Seconds to hours, you haunt my dreams
I wish you would stop!
Just leave me alone!
I hate you!
I made this poem about death, please don't judge it on the quality, I'm no poet, and this was made as an example. It's quite angry, but I believe it's fine. Death has no feelings, it's just a thing that happens, but I hate it and felt like I wanted to express that somehow. This, to me, is an example of an angry poem that I believe is fine, cause I'm not pointing out flaws or slinging angry words at any specific person on here. All I did was share my anger with death with all you fine people on the forum.
You Are Stupid
I look at you,
I no longer see a friend
You turned your back on me
And now I will turn my back on you
I will never forget, a betrayal so harsh
We are no longer together, now fuck off
This poem was directed at a hypothetical person that I was in a made up fight with. I believe he or she wronged me and I wrote this poem for him/her and everyone else to read. This is what I'm asking people not to do. This is an angry poem I don't approve of. How would you feel if the hypothetical person was you?
Now, as most of you probably noticed, these poems could be reversed. So "You Are Stupid" is about death/life and "I Hate You" is about a person I had a fight with. And that's what I mean. It's not the content I dislike, it's the intention. The meaning behind the poem. Now, I may have exagerated how many of these poems have been brought to my attention, but there are some and those are the ones I don't like. Angry poems are fine, angry poems that attack someone or some people on here, are not. I may not know which are which, but the people involved will. That's why I asked people to not write poems like that. Write all the anger you want for all I care, damn death! Damn cancer! Damn sickness! Damn long work hours! Damn nazism! Damn space aliens! Damn stepping on legos!
The reason I was gonna talk with the other moderators was cause I wanted to know how we should approach it if someone comes to us and says "Hi, this poem is aimed at me, and I don't like it.", not how we're gonna start pulling down every angry poem we see.
Wether or not that's the intent, it creates a sort of mob mentality, when people pat you on the back and say they're missing out or whatever other compliment they come up with. It kinda feels like you're getting people on your side, even if it's not meant to start some kinda of war. That's besides the point though. And I'm not accusing anyone of this, it's just a side effect of the whole thing.
Please don't put words into my mouth and don't act like I'm stupid just cause you don't agree with me. We're entitled to our opinions, and I tried to bring this topic up in a friendly manner so that we could discuss it as adults. Also, stop arguing with eachother about eachother!!! This was not the point of my thread! And I will start giving warnings if people don't stop slinging insults. That is a threat. ^^
