Ascension Part 4: Peerless
#1
Though they struggled and they cried it did no good at all,
Axela had them bested her skills clear out of sight,
Boredom grew as all new things were easy as a crawl,
Even as they praised her the commoners seemed trite.

She searched for a master, soldiers slew them out of spite,
All they left alive the vile Emperor did bind,
Upon the skilled hands of the land there was a blight,
Axela then, her fate to seek but not to find.

Imperial sights upon her became aligned,
Impossible to ignore a talent oh so grand,
Sought to slay or slave her tap her power unrefined,
The soldiers of the empire innumerate as sand.

She turned about to face them, though her struggle seemed in vain,

For those following this series I promise it gets lighter after this one.

I like the historical feel that you bring to all of these and the fact that you are really holding to a form. I almost feel that, aside from specific names used, you could use this poem to describe any place of freedom and art suddenly conquered by dark and terrible tyrant.

I am glad you are enjoying them. Its really fun to be working and collaborating on these. The strict scheme is tough but I think will pay off in the end.

Rigor and discipline usually do! I'm glad at your resolve.

Rigor discipline and the expectations of others. I find that if people are counting on me I am far more likely to perform than when I do something for myself alone.
