A Fun Sea Shanty - -J- - 04-04-2016 I'm a musician, so the few times I'm inspired to write poetry, there's a tune in my head as I write. But this time, I actually wanted to write a song. So this is dedicated to someone who, in every sense of the phrase, rocked my world. Inspired by this tune: Monkey Island 2 - Campfire. If I could repeat the first two verses and the chorus I would (and might put it into a quickie chiptune someday), but for now this'll do. (Use of Comic Sans is entirely intentional.) Oh I came to this island In search of booty An F-word, a means to an end (To an end) But lo and behold, I tell ye truly, The F-word that I found, it was Friend. There truly be no happier sight Than two singing lovebirds Singing sweet nothings only for their ears! (For their ears) One day, I saw this sight And then I realized Without a lovebird of my own, I just had tears. CHORUS: If I only wanted the kind o' fun that would Let me work out my wrist Then I ne'er, e'er would have known All the treasure I missed. I'll ne'er forget when I met my match, A blonde mighty pirate! I knew she be a keeper from the start. (From the start) I ne'er met a lass like her, A muse so inspired! With razor wit, she bushwhacked into my heart. I ne'er thought a moment I'd take her fancy It was the first and last of our flings. (Our flings) We poked fun at layabouts Who looked just like us With bad puppeteers pulling the strings. CHORUS I ne'er did laugh so hard But then she leaned over And told me she had an iron lung (Iron lung) She held her breath for A full ten minutes! Then I spoke no more but ne'er held my tongue. Ne'er did I e'er think I'd find my Marley Dressed up like a Threepwood in disguise. (In disguse) When that fateful day came And she had to leave me It truly was the saddest o' goodbyes. CHORUS I ne'er wished to give her up To the waters Parting with her truly be the worst. (The worst) Since then there be diamonds Which caught my attention But how do ye e'er forget the first? So if ye should come across A rare piece o' booty Beautiful and brighter than the sun, (The sun) Cherish that treasure While ye find it And be sure'n that ye have all kinds of fun. CHORUS: If I only wanted the kind o' fun that would Let me work out my wrist Then I ne'er, e'er would have known All the treasure I missed. If I only wanted the kind o' fun that would Let me work out my wrist Then I ne'er, e'er would have known ye... Oh, ye treasure I miss. RE: A Fun Sea Shanty - Anallee - 04-04-2016 Very nice! As Dark would say: "Keep them coming"! Cheers, Ivan RE: A Fun Sea Shanty - Laertes1 - 04-08-2016 the feel is great because you emphasize the animal-like nature of sex, but in the end it gives in to romance and the sea. wonderful |
