  A Slow Clap for You
Posted by: Kyrios - 06-24-2016, 02:16 PM - Forum: Creative writing - Replies (36)

A slow clap is a tricky thing,
Nationality depending,
There it means congratulations,
Here its ruder than flatulations,
Get it wrong and its sure to sting.

Whether it does with cheer ring,
Or the pain of sarcasm bring,
You should temper your expectations,
Of a slow clap.

So when you to your hopes cling,
That your performance did take wing,
Be careful of your  foundations,
And wary of hidden frustrations,
Question what you're receiving,
If its a slow clap.

And to everyone who voted to leave the EU. A slow clap. From a Brit.

  Soiryk: Descent to Godhood
Posted by: Kyrios - 06-24-2016, 01:36 PM - Forum: Creative writing - Replies (6)

This is another poem for the Luderos campaign, a tavern song/tale about the god Soiryk.

The shoulders of a god bowed by the trials of a man,
A fate none could have seen for this young dauntless one,
He strapped a shield to his back and walked across the plain,
To challenge the foul emperor and end his hate filled reign,
He fought his way from town to town across all of Aldan.

Stopped for a night with kind traders travelling in caravan,
The witch was there to aid him and to end him this young man,
The shield that she gave him held power and weight in train,
The shoulders of a god bowed by the trials of a man.

In battle he strode forwards in an army held the van,
Died and rose and died again this protectetor of his men,
Til he met them on the battlefield his love and his pain,
They came to save him and to damn that day in pouring rain,
Only then the price was felt he understood the witch's plan,
The shoulders of a god bowed by the trials of a man.

A sonnet for a dear friend
Posted by: Kyrios - 06-24-2016, 01:00 PM - Forum: Creative writing - Replies (7)

What do I think of this sweet young woman,
Who pays me more heed than I could deserve,
Where do I find the words I must summon,
To write her a missive that's sure to serve.

What can I say, but I wonder at her,
Who is light and bright, with depths and currents,
Where it is easy to be fast ensnared,
To find in that soft bond reassurance.

What do I want, from this wonderful girl,
Who has herself chosen to be my friend,
Wherefore naught, but continue to unfurl,
To be inspired and my hand to extend.

Maria, smart, kind, fun and insightful,
Cath, bubbly whacky and delightful.

  Dinner
Posted by: Altaria - 06-23-2016, 08:58 PM - Forum: Creative writing - Replies (1)

Enjoyed a sunny day at the beach
Got you a bit jumpy and blushing
Loved the way you tried to hide it
Your simple smile is all I need

You called me, invited me to dinner
I suggested a place to meet and feast
I arrived and you looked at me stunned
You couldn't believe what you were seeing

We ate, talked, laughed and took a walk along the beach
You took me in your arms
I felt that's where I belong
And with that the night was gone

It's beautiful here,
Really calm and so serene,
Relax without fear.

A blanket of green,
Unfolds beneath the bright sun,
Somethng new I've seen.

This reminds me some,
Of beautiful cumbria,
Sadness does succumb,
And in its place contentment,
Wash of pleasant sentiment.

  Virtuous Vice
Posted by: Kyrios - 06-22-2016, 10:03 AM - Forum: Creative writing - Replies (3)

Sharp's Deadly Sins poem inspired me to write this.

It's a trick, a trap, it's all a lie,
Don't you see they want you on your knees,
In abject fear, so you tremble and cry,
Its a tale they tell to keep you cowed,
To bend your knee or break your back,
For they can only rule whilst you are bowed.

There's no such thing as deadly sin,
Or sin of any kind;

Pride makes you strong and certain, don't falter,
Envy makes you work hard to catch up, keep going,
Wrath spurs you to protect and defend, don't fail them,
Gluttony is simple pleasure in your needs, embrace it,
Lust sparks a draw to wonderous conenction, joy shared,
Sloth is the reward for a job well done, rest easy,
Avarice grants enough to survive, save wisely,
These virtues help you pass many tests, just not in excess.

There's no such thing as deadly sin,
Or sin of any kind;

Stand tall and proud all you my fellows,
Don't let them drive you to the ground,
Embrace your feelings fierce or mellow,
You are not wrong to be who you are,
To think for yourself and use your mind,
So choose your path and you'll go far.

There's no such thing as deadly sin,
Or sin of any kind.

  I don't want to sink
Posted by: Kyrios - 06-21-2016, 10:44 AM - Forum: Creative writing - Replies (3)

It's a while since I had anyone real,
To hold me and comfort me in the night,
To caress me, kiss me and give delight,
It's a while since I was able to feel,
So I let it go and I fell to sleep,
I sealed myself up as though in a keep.

I've woken up now and I can't help but think,
That wonders await or that I will sink.

There's still no one here to hold onto me,
I don't know how to look or search for more,
I'm determined not to again close that door,
Afraid and hopeful I guess we shall see,
If there's anyone out there who could care,
One I want who also wants to be there.

I've woken up now and I can't help but think,
That wonders await or that I will sink.

  Portuguese Dogs
Posted by: Kyrios - 06-21-2016, 10:26 AM - Forum: Creative writing - No Replies

Disclaimer: This is about actual canines that kept barking when they heard English voices.

They threaten us then,
Those violent Portuguese dogs,
Posturing angry,
It saddens me that they hate us,
Those barking Portuguese dogs.

  Pastel de nata

You're called a pastel de nata,
You're just a fucking custard tart,
The hype and buzz is worth nada,
You're called a pastel de nata,
You're not really any better,
Pastry's different, but at heart,
You're called a pastel de nata,
You're just a fucking custard tart,
